Frédéric Joseph Pierre Timothée Soulacroix, often Italianized as Federigo Soulacroix, was a French painter active in Italy. Born in Rome in 1858, after spending his childhood and adolescence between Italy and France, in 1873 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and in October 1876 he was admitted to the School of Painting.
Soulacroix specialized in eighteenth-century or contemporary anecdotal genre scenes and this earned him great success in Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States of America, Canada and South America. Read the full biography

Frederic Soulacroix Biography

Frédéric Joseph Pierre Timothée Soulacroix, often Italianized as Federigo Soulacroix, was a French painter active in Italy. Born in Rome in 1858, after spending his childhood and adolescence between Italy and France, in 1873 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and in October 1876 he was admitted to the School of Painting.
Soulacroix specialized in eighteenth-century or contemporary anecdotal genre scenes and this earned him great success in Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States of America, Canada and South America. Many of his works are exhibited at the Museum of art in Philadelphia and in the Mansion House in London.
Throughout his career, Soulacroix has received several awards for his art. In 1924, the French authorities appointed him an officer of the Academy for his devotion to French culture. In 1929, Soulacroix was made a knight of the Legion of Honor. Soulacroix died in Cesena on 3 September 1933.
