Pierluigi Spadolini Biography

Spadolini Pierluigi (Florence, 1922-2000) Pierluigi Spadolini was an Italian architect and designer. In 1962 he was included in the teaching staff of the ISIA in Florence directed by Angelo Maria Landi. He was the author of many important works including: the Headquarters of La Nazione, the Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence, the Spadolini Pavilion in the Fortezza da Basso and the Palace of Justice in Turin. Spadolini also designed the church of Santa Maria Madre del Redentore in Rome and the church of San Carlo Borromeo in the Centro Direzionale of Naples. He was very active in the field of industrialized building production, in module design and in the production of architectural panels, trying to combine the moment of design with that of production. An example in this sense was the construction of the prototype of the new post office, commissioned by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, to remedy the frequent shortage of suitable postal equipment. A modular building was thus designed, which could be built anywhere and at minimal expense.
