Eugenio Spreafico was born in Monza in 1856 and was a famous Italian painter. He attended the Brera Academy and studied with the masters Bertini and Casnedi. After graduating, he began exhibiting his works around 1881 at the Brera periodical exhibition.
Later, Spreafico had the opportunity to exhibit some of his works at the National Exhibition in Rome in 1883. His painting is profoundly realistic and with strongly narrative intentions, paying particular attention to social issues such as the work in the fields carried out by women and the hardships they faced. He also dedicated himself to landscape painting, drawing inspiration from his native Brianza with its lakes and vegetation.
His last exhibition took place in 1916 at the Permanente in Milan. Many of his famous paintings are today kept in the Civic Art Collection of the municipality of Monza. Eugenio Spreafico died in Megreglio in 1919.
