Stam Mart (Purmerend, 1899 - Zurich, 1986) Mart Stam was a 1900s Dutch architect, urban planner and designer. He studied in Amsterdam and later in Zurich he met Hans Schmidt, El Lissitzky, Hannes Meyer, with whom he founded the magazine "ABC". Between 1926 and 1930 he contributed to the design of the Van nelle factory, a work of a new functionalist trend, born before the group formed by Gropius and le Corbusier and carried forward by Stam and Hannes Meyer. Stam was at the center of an architectural debate, as he created a steel tube chair (cantilever chair), using plumber's pipes and fittings in a provocative way. The chair was later revived at the Bauhaus by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer in bent chrome tube. In 1927 he participated in the Weissenhof exhibition in Stuttgart with model homes.
