Stanchi Giovanni (Rome, 1608-1675) Giovanni Stanchi was an Italian painter of the 17th century. He was the author above all of still lifes and worked mainly in Rome throughout the seventeenth century. Stanchi marked the transition from Caraveggio's naturalism to the more mature phase of Baroque decorativism. He most likely trained in the workshop of Agostino Verrocchio, one of the most important in Rome in that historical period.
