Status Quo formed in 1967 in London under the name Spectres. The initial group consisted of Francis Rossi on vocals and guitar, Alan Lancaster on bass, John Coughlan on drums and Roy Lynes on organ. With the entry of Rick Harrison on guitar and vocals, the group changed its name to Status Quo and debuted in 1968 with the album "Picturesque matchstickable messages from the Status Quo". However, they were not very successful. Later, the band signed a contract with Vertigo Records and released the hit single "Paper Plane" followed by the album "Piledriver" (1973). These works mark the beginning of a period of great commercial success for Status Quo. However, the band faces a number of internal problems due to disagreements between Lancaster and guitarists Rossi and Parfitt, which ultimately lead to Lancaster's separation from the band. In 2009, Status Quo were awarded the title of Knights of the British Order and, in 2011, they entrusted the distribution of their new album, "Quid pro quo", to the Tesco supermarket chain, which has become one of the major distribution channels of British music industry.
