Painter, after interrupting his classical studies, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He subsequently undertook a series of trips, choosing Paris as his first stop, before moving in 1912 to Spain with Sorolla, and later to Martinique and Venezuela. After the First World War he settled in Milan, starting to actively participate in the most important exhibitions of art. In 1922 he won the Canonica Prize at the Venice Biennale. He was a teacher at the Brera Academy and in Milan he founded the Bagutta prize with Bacchelli. His works are in the Modern Art Galleries of Milan and in other Italian and foreign ones.
