Sughi Alberto (Cesena, 1928 - Bologna, 2012) Alberto Sughi was an Italian painter of the 20th century. He belonged to the realist current and made his debut in the early 1950s. The artist immediately began to portray scenes of everyday life in a figurative form in his paintings, defined by Enrico Crispolti as "existential realism". He participated in the most important contemporary art exhibitions such as the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadrennial. Important Italian and foreign museums dedicated large anthological exhibitions to him such as the Gallery of Modern Art in Bologna, the Galleria del Maneggio in Moscow, the Castel Sant'Angelo Museum in Rome, the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest, the National Gallery in Prague , the Civic Gallery of Modern Art in Ferrara, the Assis Chateaubriand Art Museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He also participated in the cycle of exhibitions “The search for identity” in Cagliari, Palermo and Ascoli Piceno (2003), in the exhibition “Il Male. Cruel Painting Exercises” at the Palazzina di Caccia Stupinigi (2005), at the exhibition “The Interior Portrait from Lotto to Pirandello” at the Regional Archaeological Museum of Aosta (2005).
