Surbone Mario (Treville, 1932) Mario Surbone was a student of Felice Casorati at the Albertina Academy in Turin. He inaugurated his artistic career in 1958 at the National Youth Art Exhibition in Rome. Initially he approached the informal sphere, and then (from the 1960s) moved towards the geometricalisation of the figure, reducing it to the simple outline. He set up his first solo exhibition at the “Il Canale” gallery in Venice, with the presentation by Alberto Galvani. In 1967 he created his first shapes made from cut-out cardboard and in 1968 he exhibited his first “Incisi”. In 1969 the artist was introduced to the "Triade" gallery in Turin by Paolo Fassati, who specified that the main theme in Surbone's works was spaces, fundamental elements for allowing oneself to be carried away by "an impalpable emotional energy". Surbone participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Bologna and Genoa. His works are characterized by emotional elements confined within geometric space. Starting in 1978 he began a series of acrylics on wood until today, continuing to participate in personal and collective exhibitions in both public and private spaces.
