Sybil Andrews (1898 - 1992) was born in 1898 in Bury St Edmunds, England. During the First World War she was apprenticed as a welder in an airplane factory. However, she had been painting since she was a child.
After the end of the war he became an art teacher at Portland and then moved to London. She began, inspired by futurism, to produce linocuts that depicted the speed of contemporary urban life.
During World War II Andrews returned to welding, this time in a shipyard, where she met her future husband, Walter Morgan. They married and emigrated to Canada in 1947, settling in an isolated logging town on Vancouver Island, where his work was well received. In 1951 Andrews was elected to the Society of Canadian Painters. In 1985 he published his book, 'Artist's Kitchen'. He worked as a teacher and practiced as an artist, living in Canada until his death in 1992.
