Tani Edoardo (Tivoli, 1880 - Rome, 1948) Edoardo Tani was a Roman painter and watercolourist. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and subsequently enrolled in Erulo Eroli's tapestry school and learned the art of dyeing wool, also dedicating himself to tapestry weaving and restoration. Tani traveled to England and Spain where he had the opportunity to become acquainted with the paintings of William Turner, John Constable and Peter de Wint. He approached divisionism, painting through small rounded brushstrokes, which recalled the weaving of a tapestry and attention to perspective. He also dedicated himself to female portraits, in which he took up the lesson of divisionism, painting in small strokes. In 1909 he joined the Association of Roman Watercolorists and subsequently also became its advisor. He became Inspector of Antiquities and director of the Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli.
