Mario Tantin Biography
Mario Tantin was born in Milan in 1929. After completing his middle school studies, he attended the Cimabue Academy in Milan. In 1948 he made his debut in the art world by participating in an extemporaneous painting competition, in which he obtained second prize. From 1950 he began to actively participate in regional, national and international exhibitions and events. In 1953, he took part in a collective exhibition at the Kunstverein in Munich. He exhibited personal works in various Italian cities, such as Milan, Rome, Bologna, Salice Terme and Torre del Lago, and also abroad, such as in Amsterdam, Bremen, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Cannes. In 1955 he decided to settle in Germany, in Hamburg, where he lived until 1960. Subsequently he moved to Padenghe sul Garda and in 1969 to Desenzano. His works were permanently exhibited at the Zacchi Gallery in Piazza Malvezzi. Mario Tantin was a talented landscape and portrait painter, who left figurative forms to explore new paths. A hang gliding enthusiast, he unfortunately had a tragic accident during training in Valle Aurina, Alto Adige, where he lost his life.
