Karel Thole, pseudonym of Carolus Adrianus Maria Thole attended the State School of Drawing at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He continues his career as an illustrator, moving in the advertising and editorial environment, but also drawing for stained glass windows and wall paintings. In 1958 he moved to Italy, to Milan: he initially collaborated with the Rizzoli publishing house, and then moved to Mondadori in 1960 where he replaced Kurt Caesar in the creation of the covers of "The novels of Urania", a Mondadori series born almost a decade earlier, and still exists under the name of Urania. This production places him as one of the most original visionary science fiction artists. He exhibits in solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe.
