Achille Tominetti was born in Milan in 1848 and is considered an exponent of the divisionist movement. After studying at the Brera Academy, where he specialized in landscaping. He moved to Miazzina in 1871, where he was hired as tutor to the son of the noble Trubeckoj family. Thanks to this assignment, Tominetti came into contact with the wealthier classes and was soon requested by numerous clients. Another great opportunity presented itself to him when he met the famous art mediator and painter Vittore Grubicy de Dragon, who introduced him to the themes of divisionism and became a great supporter and promoter. The decisive turning point in Tominetti's career came in 1889, when he signed up, with a lifetime contract, to the Grubicy Gallery. Thanks to the gallery, the painter managed to solve his economic problems and to be known and appreciated by critics, even internationally. In the last years of his life, Tominetti used the photographic medium to enhance the real meaning of the countryside he loved so much. He finally died in 1917 in his home in Miazzina.
