Giorgio Tonelli Biography
Giorgio Tonelli (1941 - ) was born in Brescia in 1941. After graduating in Pavia (International Law, 1964), in 1974, after a long trip to India, he decided to dedicate himself to painting. In 1976 he moved to London and subsequently to Paris, New York and Venice. In 1979 he participated in the Metacosa group which later disbanded in 1983. In 1980 he joined the Galleria Forni in Bologna. There are numerous group exhibitions in which he takes part, including the most recent Arte italiana-1968/2007, Palazzo Reale (2007), Milan. From the same year are: participation in the Michetti Prize, the exhibition Still Life at the Ragghianti Foundation in Lucca and the exhibition Nuovi Pittori della Realtà at the PAC in Milan. In 2008, as part of the exhibition Not so private-Galleries and stories of art in Bologna, organized by the MAMbo of Bologna, he exhibited for Galleria Forni and Galleria Stefano Forni. Among his most recent solo shows: Galleria Davico, Turin (2001); Antonia Jannone Gallery, Milan (2002, 2009); Il Polittico Gallery, Rome (2004); Forni Gallery, Bologna (2005, 2009); Studio Forni, Milan (2006). In 2011 he participated in the LIV Edition of the Venice Biennale. He lives and works in Bologna.
