Sinibaldo Tordi was an Italian painter born in Rome in 1876 and died in Florence in 1955. He studied in Rome with the Spanish painter Salvador Sánchez Barbudo, belonging to the school of Mariano Fortuny, from whom he learned the technique of eighteenth-century reconstruction. Tordi demonstrated that he had a strong ability in portrait and sacred painting, creating a painting of Our Lady of Sorrows for the church of San Felice a Ema, near Florence. During the 20th century, Tordi paid greater attention to detail in the description of interiors, objects and costumes, thus giving an even more decorative direction to his painting. He continued to devote himself to genre painting for many years, exhibiting at the Paris Salon in 1913. Tordi died in Florence in 1955.
