Elio Torrieri was born in Lanciano (Chieti) in 1945, lives and works in Castellamonte (To). He graduated from the Art Institute of Lanciano and the Magisterium of the Book School of Urbino. The debut took place in the climate of analytical art with a collective exhibition in June 1970 by Franz Paludetto. Then, wanting to reconcile conceptual instances with pictorial practice, in 1976 he exhibited papers traced by illusionistic imprints of absent objects, painted like a trompe-l'oeil, at the Marin Gallery in Turin. In 1979 he was present at Giovanni Rimoldi's Galleria Documenta in Turin presented by Floriano De Santi and reviewed by Luigi Carluccio. It will be the meeting with the gallery owner Claudio Bruni Sakraischik, curator of Giorgio de Chirico's legacy, that will give him a place of respect among the artists of the new generation.
