Rosanna Toso Biography
Rosanna Toso was born on June 27, 1941 in Murano. She is a descendant of one of the founders of the Fratelli Toso glass factory, founded in 1854. It was in this company that she began her career as a glass designer and artist in 1964. In 1973, she took on the role of artistic director, making her the first woman to hold a management role in a company that had until then always been dominated by the men of the family. His area of expertise concerns interior lighting, table settings and art objects, all projects well integrated into the young and modern production of Fratelli Toso of those years. At the beginning of his career, he followed the traditional style of work, for example creating the murrina lace. In the second phase of his career, however, in search of new lines and manufacturing techniques, he prefers lighter designs and essential shapes in crystal, characterized by the use of white or black, which reflect the trends of the 60s and 70s . He never stops experimenting and creating unique pieces, designed to be produced only in limited quantities. Rosanna Toso works by hand engraving, decorating and designing murrine that recall the great Fratelli Toso classics, albeit with a completely new, modern and contemporary approach. Rosanna Toso died in Murano in 2001.
