Duccio Trassinelli Biography
Duccio Trassinelli was born in Florence and completed his studies at the Istituto Superiore di Disegno Industriale in his city, where he later became a professor of Design Methodology for a period of ten years. In 1970 he founded the ARDITI studio, which marked the beginning of a new collective conception of use and forms in the world of furniture. During this period, historic projects such as the BT, Ponte and Prismar lamps were born, which are now part of the permanent collections of the MOMA in New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. The Memoria armchair, awarded in 1973 by Bolaffi Casa as Design of the Month, is now part of the permanent collection of the Cassina Museum. Over the course of his career, Trassinelli has dedicated himself to various sectors, including plant engineering, prefabricated industry, design of electronic instruments, street furniture and contracts for public and private entities. He has also registered numerous invention patents. Currently, Trassinelli continues his activity in lighting design, a field in which he was one of the first to experiment with the use of low voltage. The key words of his work are: method, pioneer, technology as a poetic resource, no compromise, technical knowledge, modern tradition, play and freedom in space.
