Angelo Trezzini Biography

Angelo Trezzini was born in Milan in 1827 and was a painter, lithographer and illustrator of Swiss origin, belonging to the canton of Ticino. He received his education at the Brera Academy in Milan, where he was influenced stylistically by the works and themes of his brother-in-law, Domenico Induno. He turned his attention to the events of the Risorgimento, representing them through genre painting and focusing on the everyday life of the people. After participating in the War of Independence in 1859, he further developed this artistic trend, transforming domestic subjects linked to Risorgimento episodes into genre skits. In addition to his activity as a painter, Trezzini also worked as a designer and lithographer for humorous newspapers, creating a series of satirical works that were very critical of the political world of the time. She taught for many years at the female professional school in Milan. Angelo Trezzini was much appreciated for his work as a satirist. He died in Milan in May 1904.
