Jean Triffez. Biography
Jean Triffez (1931 - 1983) has always proclaimed himself a man of the South due to his need for warmth, sun and light and his canvases are testimony to this. Born in Belgium in 1931, after studying philosophy and literature, he moved to Paris where he studied painting, a discipline which he then perfected at the Prado school in Madrid. A great traveler he lived in Spain, Morocco, Tibet, Mexico, in Italy between Como and Rome, before finally settling in Paris. In his continuous nomadism he was able to grasp the essence of various cultures, transforming himself into a refined and elegant artist, a passionate dreamer, with a sensitive and sensual temperament who with an expert hand manages an impulsive painting between naturalism and poetic mirage. His poetic spirit led him to force the barriers of the rational, to open his mind to the discovery of forms which he then makes converge on the canvas in a luminous center that breaks through black backgrounds and opens the way to floating objects, encrustations, segments, twists, vibrations in white, green, blue, red, yellow.
