Pietro Troubetzkoy was born in Milan in 1864 and was Paolo's older brother, also a sculptor. He dedicated himself to studying sculpture and painting but much of his knowledge was acquired self-taught. Troubetzkoy spent an important period of his life in Russia, during which he taught at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow. Subsequently, he traveled to France, England, America and of course also to Italy, where he finally settled in 1932. In Milan, he dedicated much of his time to portraiture, but also created works in other Italian cities. Among his most important creations we find "Portrait of Minister Gladstone", "Portrait of Mrs. Savarese" and many others. He died in Verbania-Pallanza in 1938.
