Valeriano Trubbiani Biography

After graduating from the Art Institute of Macerata he attended the "school of the nude" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His work develops through the assembly of different elements (objects, machines, mechanical parts, human and animal figures) which give rise to very theatrical compositions, often playing on the contrast of the sublime and the horrid. Agricultural tools and machines transformed by him into sinister instruments of torture and physical constraint and the figures of animals - mice, bats, toads, chained cattle or even, in a sort of unlikely, monstrous combination that has nothing metamorphic about them as generated. As the work progresses his bestiary of other animals, lions, horses, monkeys, fish that pierce blocks of solidified sea on which dangerous cruises of armed boats roam. It also represents besieged cities from which gigantic animals emerge or are oppressed.
