Trussardi Biography
Trussardi is the Italian fashion house founded in 1911 by Dante Trussardi, born as a laboratory for the production of leather gloves to be sold throughout the national territory, during the Second World War. It was inherited in the 70s by his nephew Nicola, who became creative director, and subsequently by his children, who had the merit of transforming it into a real fashion company famous all over the world. When Nicola Trussardi became president of the fashion house, he implemented a change of trend, he began to produce not only gloves but also other articles, from leather accessories such as wallets, suitcases, belts and shoes, to clothing in general, all characterized by the symbol of the Maison, the greyhound. The first ready-to-wear collection was born in the 1980s, alongside other products, such as perfumes, home accessories and a line of high fashion jeans. However, it was the 1990s that established Trussardi as a highly sought-after international brand both in Italy and Japan. Upon Nicola's death in 1999 due to a tragic road accident, his eldest son Francesco took over. Unfortunately, Francesco also lost his life at the age of 29 in a car accident, and it was then his sister Beatrice who became president of the Maison, subsequently leaving the position to her mother Maria Luisa. Tomaso is currently at the head of the company as CEO. Even today, more than 100 years after its birth, the company's prestige remains unchanged, a symbol of Made in Italy fashion, art and design.
