Rinaldo Turati Biography

Rinaldo Turati was born in Concesio (Brescia) on 8 May 1956. He approached painting at a very young age, frequenting the milieu of Brescian painters linked to the figurative tradition. For many years he carried out intense work on classical themes such as the figure and still life, but it was through landscape and plein air painting that he came to a direct comparison with nature through which he developed his own poetics. The various personal exhibitions will be from this period which will have as their theme the motifs linked to his land. Subsequently, Turati developed a need to deal with the problems of contemporary art and, having suspended the exhibition activity, he faced a period of study and reflection. After obtaining his diploma at the Art Institute of Gargnano (Bescia), he enrolled at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1995. From this moment a new and rich exhibition phase began and the artist, through a renewed expressive language, he will strengthen and update his profound relationship with Nature and develop a progressive interest in the relationship with the exhibition space. This interest will materialize in pictorial installations hosted in evocative historical environments which will highlight a particular sensitivity towards the exhibition places and their architecture. On these occasions, some important collaborations will arise with musicians and poets who will characterize the artist's various projects with their intervention. In 1999 Turati actively contributed to the birth of the Free Academy of Fine Arts LABA in Brescia, where he has taught planning for painting and drawing for over ten years.
