Guglielmo Ulrich Biography
Born into a family of Danish origins, Guglielmo Ulrich (Milan, 1904 -1977) established himself at the end of the 1920s as the architect of the Milanese upper class, remaining active until the 1970s. Known for his conception of modern luxury furniture, which according to him should not be distinguished by complicated lines or greater decorative ornamentation, but rather by a rigorous but precious style, accompanied by superlative execution and the use of refined materials, Ulrich mainly designs chairs, armchairs, consoles and coffee tables with a particularly aerodynamic design. Ulrich's natural inclination for furniture design marries his passion for architecture in the design of the homes of some great Milanese families (Crespi, Pirelli), as well as the ateliers of famous tailors, from Curiel to Schubert, and the interiors of elegant shops in Milan, from Faraone jewelery to Ferrari silk. Founder, together with the designer and entrepreneur Renato Wild, of the furniture company Arca, from '42 to '43 Ulrich also directed the magazine Domus, alongside the architect Melchiorre Bega.
