Michael Verhoeven is a German director, screenwriter and actor, born in Berlin on 13 July 1938. Son of the German director Paul Verhoeven and married to the actress Senta Berger, Verhoeven and his partner created a film production company. In 1970, his film "Against the Vietnam War" was presented at the 20th Berlin International Film Festival, causing a scandal that led to the failure of the festival without any awards being awarded. In 1982, the director released "The White Rose", a film which, thanks to the nomination as best foreign film, consolidated his reputation within German cinema. In 1992, Verhoeven was a member of the jury of the 42nd Berlin International Film Festival.
