Born in Lugo di Ravenna he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Together with Giorgio Morandi, Osvaldo Licini, Severo Pozzati and Mario Bacchelli he organized the Futurist-inspired "Avant-garde Exhibition" in Bologna in 1914. In 1920 he participated in the Mostra degli Indipendenti in Milan and Genoa. In 1924 he was present at the Venice Biennale and in 1926 at a futurist exhibition with a work entitled "Complementarism".
