Aleardo Villa, born on 12 February 1865 in Ravello, was an Italian painter, illustrator and advertiser. He graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and already in 1891, at the Brera Triennale, he exhibited his work "Consolatrix Afflictorum" which presented him as a painter of great talent. In particular, his style was characterized by skillful composition and a predilection for cold colors, which led him to specialize in the creation of portraits of women. After a few years, however, he decided to abandon traditional painting to dedicate himself to advertising graphics, defining it as "elementary painting". Much of his production as a poster designer was created for Officine Grafiche Ricordi in Milan. Villa committed suicide in Milan on 31 December 1906 at the age of 41.
