Domenico Villano Biography
Domenico Villano, born in Battipaglia on 12 February 1980, began his artistic journey in the mid-90s, approaching the world of street artists, and, subsequently, street photography due to his passion for street photography. The numerous exhibitions and visits to art galleries in Italy have strengthened his interest in the great contemporary artists, leading him to get closer and closer to the world of pop art. From this experience was born an artistic research that outlined his style, allowing him to discover new techniques and materials such as newspaper clippings and posters, and thus create his first collages. But it is after two great meetings, the one with Andy Warhol and the one with Mimmo Rotella, that Villano decides to create his personal style, fusing the intuitions of the father of pop art with the technique of a great Italian master like Rotella. The favorite subjects of his works, in addition to Marilyn Monroe and Sophia Loren, are the great icons of the past. The inclusion of phrases and messages of various inspirations has contributed to making his works become real manifestos. His most recent productions are characterized by the inclusion of new materials such as plexiglass.
