Venetian artist born in 1938, a culture that was first pictorial, then sculptural, refined with professional experience. Between the mid-1960s and the end of the 1970s he stayed in France, coming into contact with the most avant-garde cultural circles and artistic circles of that country. However, it was during the Parisian period that the latent passion for sculpture began to make itself felt forcefully to the point of taking over painting. If the interest on a technical level had changed direction, the thematic thread of his works had not changed: the themes dealt with remained those of environmental protection combined with those of the recovery of the values of man and his history. Visentin's works possess a seductive expressive charge due to their formal purity and the sense of dematerialization that pervades and spiritualizes them. The sculptor's research into materials is notable and has led him to experiment, in addition to traditional clay and bronze, with new compositions based on precious metals and various oxides. In 1997 he founded the artistic movement Arte Positiva which found its ideal home in the Studio-Museum of Carpanè (Vi) where the artist's major works are exhibited. Gianni Visentin is a member of the Minerva Academy of Geneva and of the Academy of Letters, Sciences and Arts of Rome.
