Vittorio Viviani Biography
Vittorio Viviani is an Italian artist, born in Milan in 1909. He entered the Brera Academy in Milan, where he received a scholarship and graduated in 1928. Meanwhile, he attended Castle High School until his early 1930s. Together with his peers Motti, Spilimbergo and Scalvini, he contributed to the foundation of the "Avant-garde artistic" group, participating in their first exhibition in 1928.
His work was highly appreciated by important art critics such as Carra, Sironi and Wildt. In 1931, he began teaching at the Nova Professional Drawing School, later becoming its director for over thirty years. He has held over thirty solo exhibitions and participated in more than fifty group exhibitions.
Viviani was an academic of the Tiber Academy in Rome, a member of the Golden Legion, an honorary citizen of the Municipality of Alberobello, he received the gold medal of the Council of Ministers of Rome, the gold medal of the municipality of Iseo, the gold medal from the Italian Union for the promotion of minors' rights, the gold medal from the Municipality of Milan for artistic merit and the silver medal "Thought and Art" from Bari.
Vittorio Viviani passed away in Nova Milanese in 1998.
