After earning a degree in Chemistry (1950) and a master's degree in Business administration (1951) from Cornell University, Theodore Waddell obtained a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (1964) and then graduated summa cum laude in Architecture in Florence (1968 ). After earning a degree in Chemistry (1950) and a master's degree in Business administration (1951) from Cornell University, Theodore Waddell obtained a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (1964) and then graduated summa cum laude in Architecture in Florence (1968 ). He practiced the profession of architect and industrial designer for 15 years in Italy, also making himself appreciated as a photographer. He returns to the USA and settles in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he currently lives and works. Five of his lamps are at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, two are included in the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York (the museum dedicated a special exhibition to him in 1969). The 713/714 Tensegrity tables designed for Cassina have been in production since 1972.
