Tom Wesselmann (Cincinnati, February 23, 1931 – New York, December 17, 2004) was an American painter, sculptor and artist. Tom Wesselmann was born in Cincinnati in 1931. After studying psychology and art in Cincinnati, he attended the Cooper Union School in New York in 1956. Interested in the experiments of and J. Dine, he developed recurring themes (nudes, landscapes, still lifes) in a language close to pop poetics, which often combines real objects with pictorial illusionism, treated with flat chromatic surfaces. He died in NYC in 2004.
