Ludwig Wilding (Grünstadt, 19 May 1927 – Buchholz in der Nordheide, 4 January 2010) was a German artist. His works, all within the scope of Op art and kinetic art research, consist of structures of black and white signs and segments whose observation generates the optical sensation of being in front of painted subjects. Having become a member of the Nouvelle Tendance, he participated in the 1964 exhibition in Paris at the Museum of Decorative Arts. The following year his works were also exhibited at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York in the exhibition The Responsive Eye. In 2004 he took part in the exhibition Eyes, Lies, and Illusions (Hayward Gallery, London) while in 2007 he participated in the exhibition Optic Nerve: Perceptual Art of the 1960s held at the Columbus Museum of Art (Ohio).
