Ermanno Giovanni, later called simply Erma or sometimes Ermo, was born in 1880 in the Veronese countryside. From 1885 to 1889 he worked and studied with passion, proving himself so well that, at the age of 13, he asked to apply to continue his studies at the Academy. In 1885 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts “GB Cignaroli” in Verona as a student, of which Napoleone Nani was Director at the time: he studied continuously for the five years of the course, also receiving important recognitions in '95 and '96, for the quality of his work. In '97 he obtained his diploma. Of note is the purchase of one of his paintings for the Quirinale Gallery by the King of Italy and his nomination as Honorary Member of the Brera Academy.
