Luca Zampetti Biography

Luca Zampetti, born in Camerino in 1966, lives and works in Tolentino. After classical studies he obtained a degree in law, but followed the path of art, undertaken at a very young age. A self-taught artist, in 1981 he began experimenting with formal suggestions of various origins: analytical cubism, expressionism, pop influences. This is followed by a period defined as neo-metaphysical, whose works, all of large dimensions, have as their protagonists interiors characterized by the total absence of the human element, told through the places in which he lives and the objects he surrounds himself with. Subsequently, in 1995, his research shifts towards an expressionism of existential origin, in which the human figure reappears as the sole or central protagonist of the work, even if through shots that totally exclude the gaze and other parts of the body. In the works of the last period which begins in 2000, the characters return to being portrayed in a total way and inserted into metropolitan views, through cinematographic shots with singular background fades, thanks to which the climate of the metropolitan streets is reproduced with singular realism and evocative effectiveness; the encaustic backgrounds also contribute to identifying the main color of the works.
