David O. Zelnack Biography
David O. Selznick was a famous American film producer and screenwriter, born on May 10, 1902 in Pittsburgh and died on June 22, 1965 in Los Angeles. He was the son of Lewis J. Selznick, a former jeweler who worked as a general manager in the film industry and in whose footsteps his two sons Myron and David also followed. The latter began producing films for RKO in 1933, including “King Kong” and “Topaze”, and then for MGM, where he made famous films such as “Dinner at Eight”, “Anna Karenina” and “David Copperfield” . In 1936 he founded his own production company, Selznick International Pictures, with which he made films such as "A Star is Born", "The Prisoner of Zenda" and "The Garden of Allah". In 1939 Selznick produced the famous film Gone with the Wind, which made him famous throughout the world. Subsequent films include "Rebecca - The First Wife", "The Paradine Case" and "Duel in the Sun". Selznick retired from film in the late 1950s.
