(alberto Porta Y Muños) Zush/evru Biography

Zush/Evru, pseudonym of Alberto Porta y Muñoz, is an artist born in 1946 in Barcelona. His work is characterized by the early use of digital technology and the representation of art as a cathartic and therapeutic process. Porta was a pioneer in the implementation of art therapy. His artistic production constitutes an accumulation of images that refer to the body, the mind, sex and time. Porta has created a personal code to express everything that cannot be explained rationally through his artistic medium. The artist uses his work to challenge the distinction between reason and madness and to express multiple personalities of a single consciousness. In 1968, during the Franco regime, Porta adopted the name "Zush". Subsequently, he symbolically changed his name to "Evru" during the digital and multimedia technology performance "ZUSH.TECURA" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. His work integrates digital technology through the concept of "PsychoManualDigital", reflecting the idea that a human being is inseparable from his own mind, the psyche, and from his own body, the manual, whereas digital is, as he himself defines: "the ritual and universal prosthesis of the present".
