A brass statue depicting Shri Shiva and Shri Parvati. Northern India, 16th century
This complicated devotional Induist statue depicts one of the three major gods of Trimurti Shiva with his wife Parvati. They are both seated on a throne and they are surrounded by less important characters, like for example a couple of worshipper. The two major figures are seated in front of a complex torana decorated with Makaras and peacocks.
