A carved bamboo-root libation cup decorated with archaic motifs and chilongs China, Qing dynasty, 18th century
Modelled after and imitation of the rhinoceros horn libation cup, the body carved in low relief with achaic tao-tie arranged in horizontal bands. It is fitted with a S-scroll handle on a side embellished with five chilongs climbing on it and three further chilongs clambering on the exterior of the vessel.
