A cizhou tiger shaped headrest China, Jurchen / Yuan dynasty, 12th-13th century
Of considerable size, shaped as a crouching tiger ready to leap. The entire surface is naturalistically decorated with the colors of the feline livery. For a similar piece, see Sotheby's New York, Collection of Gerson and Judith Leiber, 20 March 2018, lot 446.
