Finely carved and picturing the transcendent Buddha (jina) Vairocana in the center, the hands in the dharmachakrapravartana mudra position, sitting in the padmasana position and surrounded by engraved figures. Above his halo is the benevolent monster Cheppu and some sea chimeras, Makara. At the base of the draped throne are two small miniatures depicting Palden-Ilamho, on the right, and Mahakala, on the left. The outer frame is ornate with stylized clouds in relief on a red background. Beneath the base is a compartment for the consecration, though the panel is missing.
