A large black glazed citzhou jar China, Jurchen / XiXia, 12th / 13th century
An interesting specimen of so-called "northern dark-glazed" production, heavely potted, slightly compressed globular body with a wide mouth and the entire surface worked in “cut away” technique with lotus scrolls design. For a similar piece see Sothebys (Sothebys NY, 17 March 2015, lot 76)
Provenance: Italian private collection, purchased on the French antique market in the 1950s.
