On the back it bears a label with attribution to Liborio Grue.
Provenance: Private collection, Parma.
The scene represented derives from an etching by Jean Cotelle from a model by Gérard de Lairesse; A plate depicting the same subject is found in the collections of the Louvre (J. Giacometti, "Catalog des maioliques des musées nationaux", Paris 1974, pp. 480-481, n ° 1420).
