Beautiful details of face and beard. The inscription is likely to indicate the place, the date and the name of the artist Wang Qi, specialized in the decoration of plaques depicting characters. His first works are in the gongbi style, characterized by the fine outlines of the subjects, while in the works from later years the style becomes more personale and mannered. A tile signed by the same artist was auctioned by Christie's in May 2014 (auction 5295 lot 1243) and another by Sotheby's London on November 7, 2007, lot 483.
