A rare Jain bronze sculpture portraying Bahubali India, 12th century
This sculpture portrays Bahubali, son of the first tirthankara and founder of Jainism. He is often depicted with plants and leaves on his legs: the legend states that such vegetation grew over his lap after Bahubali remained for an entire year in Kayotsarga position to meditate.
