Fragment of a large red sandstone sculpture depicting the Buddha. The head, made according to the canons of Thai Buddhist statuary of the 15th century, still shows traces of the blue pigment on the short curly hair. The perfect balance of the anatomical volumes and the impeccable artistic rendering of the sharp lines of the face, combined with a refined and very sensitive psychological exploration of the face, underline the mysterious bond between Buddha and the mankind.
