A sang de boef pottery vase China, Qing dynasty, 19th century
Bottle vase with globular body and tall thin slightly splayed neck, covered with thick dark red monochrome glaze. This type of objects, which spread in China during the 18th century - and successfully reproposed the following century - were also very popular in Europe where they were traded under the name of "sang de boef" due to the particular color of the glaze.
