ASTA 193 - FINE CHINESE, ASIAN & ISLAMIC WORKS OF ART
Lot 237
This exquisite copper statue shows a lavish gilt in the typical Nepalese Malla style. It portrays the Adibuddha Vajrasattva (Rdo-rje-sems-pa in Tibetan) seated in padmasana position on a double lotus base. He holds his typical objects: a vajra in his right hand and the ghanta bell in his left hand. The statue shows little niches to hold jewels, some of which are still in place.
